Branch Treasurers Convention 2010
Branch Treasurers Convention 2010 This will be held on the 29th /30th January
2010, at the Hilton Hotel, Blackpool.
Friday 29th will be the usual get together for those attending and then on
Saturday 30th we be looking the following topics-
The new Branch Treasurers Handbook,
RMS Finance modules – the next generation of functionality membership &
finance on line,
a .net accounting application,
Branch Annual Accounts & Annual Financial Return,
We will also do an update on what’s coming up that will be of interest,
including the developments on the RMS membership system.
Branch Treasurers Convention 2009
Over 50 branch treasurers attended the 2009 convention held in Blackpool over
the 23rd /24th January 2009.
Friday evening was an informal get together for Branch Treasurers.
Saturday morning was spent looking at a newly developed excel spreadsheet to
keep branch accounts on which was demonstrated by Sotirios Loizou from UNISON
National Finance Department.
The first half of Saturday afternoon was give over to Helen Titherington who led
a session on Public Speaking. As always we ended the convention with questions
and answers on annual returns problems.
We were pleased to have colleagues from Thompsons Solicitors attend and they
detailed all the services available to members from Thompsons and met treasurers
on Friday as they arrived for the convention.
National Finance Restructuring
Many of you will, over many years spoken to and met our colleagues from the
Branch Accounting Section of UNISON’s Finance Department at Mabledon Place,
Derek, Raymond, Richard, Tunji, and Anna.
Due to a restructuring this section has been closed and the staff have left
UNISON. Derek and Tunji have taken early retirement and Raymond, Richard and
Anna have left to pursue their careers outside of UNISON. We wish them well for
the future.
The work that they did is now being done by the National IMPS section (Income &
Membership Processing Services) part of the National RMS Section.

Regional Restructuring
The Regional Finance Team is now part of the new Regional Finance &
Membership Team. This restructuring happened at the end January 2009 following
on from Linda Gorst previous Head of Regional Membership leaving UNISON.

Branch Treasurers Convention 2008
23rd/24th January 2008 – Hilton Hotel, Blackpool
Over 50 branch treasurers attended the 2008 convention held in Blackpool 25th/26th January 2008.
Topics covered were budgeting in UNISON branches, and auditing in UNISON branches, along with a session on completing the annual financial return.
Donna Greaves and Rachel Dennis from Britannia Building Society also came along and told delegates of the accounts available to UNISON branches and member.
It’s intended to hold another convention in 2009, details to follow.
