Together with the Working Class Movement
Library in Salford we have chosen a series of important events from the
last 200 years. We are using a variety of original source material from
the Library to bring to life events which can often seem grey and remote
and our mission is to show why they are still of relevance to us even
now.
We want recollections from our
activists about these particular events. Perhaps you played a part in
the NHS strike of 1982 or joined in with the People’s March for Jobs. Or
you have family stories that have been passed down about a relative who
took part in the General Strike. We want to record your accounts of
these events and why there were of importance.
We know that for many of our great
activists trade unionism is a way of life and we want to share this
passion that you have for UNISON and the trade union movement with our
more passive members and fire their own enthusiasm. Therefore we will
also be recording our activists talking about different reasons that
have motivated them to play a part.
On the left hand side are this
quarter’s timeline topics for you to discover and on the right are some
clips of people today talking about different inspirations for getting
involved.
If you want to know more about the
programme of workshops or if you want to contribute a story of your own
then please get in touch. |
