About Us

Who's Who - Rena Wood

Rena Wood has been a member of UNISON and one of the pre sister unions NALGO since 1984. She first became a Health & Safety representative then a workplace steward. She has participated within UNISON’s structures at a regional and national level and is currently assistant branch secretary in one of the union’s largest branches.
As a UNISON activist she feels fortunate in having had the opportunity of sharing the skills and knowledge of colleagues who have considerable experience between them. UNISON has a broad and diverse membership. The basic trade union principles of unity and solidarity gives us our strength and whilst it might be a cliché, “an injury to one, is an injury to all” and on that basis Rena is proud to be part of a union that seeks to influence government policy to improve the quality of life for its members’ and the wider community, including pensioners, unemployed people and young people. UNISON’s role is fundamental in campaigning for the principle of social justice, equality and fairness.

Rena is Vice-Chair of the North West Region Black Members Committee and a UNISON representative on the North West TUC Executive.
