Who's Who - Ray Short
| Ray Short heads the organising of our Local Government
membership. There are 112,000 members in 46 branches. The branches are
based on the 46 separate local authorities in the North West. Their
conditions of service are based on a National Joint Agreement with the
local authority employer’s organisation, but they are then subject to
further detailed negotiations at local level. Each Authority has a
member of the full time staff assigned to it |

| and they take their direction from Ray and other
Regional Management Team (RMT) colleagues. Ray also supports the lay members from these branches to run the democratic process which decides policy for UNISON
Regionally and Nationally. |
