Who's Who - Bill Berry

Bill Berry trained as an Operating Department Practitioner and subsequently developed his career as a clinical teacher working in acute hospitals on Merseyside. He joined the health service trade union COHSE on his first day of employment and after 2 months became a steward. Bill was subsequently elected Branch Secretary of the Sefton Health Branch and retained this post until he was appointed as a full time officer in May 1984 at the age of 25.      
Bill was appointed Regional Secretary of COHSE in 1992 and following the merger of COHSE, NUPE and NALGO in July 1993 he was allocated responsibility for Corporate Services and Development matters, including the establishment of the UNISON North West Regional Centre.

Bill is now Regional Manager (Corporate Services & Resources based at the Regional Centre in Manchester. He is also the Regional Political Contact, supporting political development work within branches and liaising with UNISON activists, staff, the Labour Party and elected politicians to advance UNISON policy within the Labour Party for the benefit of our wider membership.
