UNISON Cleaners Awards and Conference - 16/17 February 2009

Are you responsible for, or have an interest in, hospital cleanliness? If so, you won't want to miss UNISON's key conference looking at all the issues around cleaner hospitals and the role of relevant staff in tackling healthcare associated infections (HCAIs).

With cleanliness in hospitals and the NHS at the top of everyone's agenda, UNISON continues to put cleaning staff at the heart of the NHS team because we believe they can provide a real solution in the fight against HCAIs.

We now want to bring people together to look at how the experience, skills and knowledge of cleaning staff, those working in infection control and prevention and staff responsible for procuring or outsourcing cleaning services, together with trust chief executives and board members, can help in the fight against healthcare acquired infections.

Keynote speakers include:

Ann Keen MP, parliamentary under secretary for health services
Dave Prentis, UNISON general secretary
Dr Stephanie Dancer, consultant microbiologist, NHS Lancashire
Steve Davis, Cardiff University
Karen Jennings, UNISON head of health

together with contributions from cleaning staff.

There will also be a choice of workshops looking at a range of issues affecting cleaners.

The conference takes place at the Holiday Inn, Coram Street, London WC1N
1HT on Tuesday 17 February 2009.
