Transforming Community Services

About Transforming Community Services

Transforming Community Services is the biggest organising issue to face our members in Primary Care for many years.  Many staff will be concerned about the potential implications of these far reaching changes, and in particular will be worried about whether they will have a job, whether that job will still be in the NHS, whether they will remain on NHS pay and conditions, and whether they will still have access to the NHS Pension Scheme.

In order to secure an acceptable outcome to  these changes, by ensuring that NHS services remain within the NHS, we need to be organised, both in terms of activist representation and involvement, and, most importantly, in membership strength within every PCT.  There is tremendous scope for Branches to recruit and organise members around this crucial issue.  Building our organisational strength is vital to the amount of pressure we are able to exert upon Primary Care Trusts, the North West Strategic Health Authority and the government to safeguard the best interests of our members.

A range of campaign material is available to assist activists, which you can download from this website.  The Region will support branches in this vital work, by developing further UNISON specific publicity materials, helping to organise briefings for activists and members, and sending out information via e-mail communication networks.
